Potential attorney candidates should be prepared to take on a wide array of duties including researching cases, interviewing witnesses, taking and defending depositions, preparing motions and pleadings, and investigating and developing defenses. Attorneys will appear in court for dockets and trials. Travel may be required for court appearances and depositions. Applicants should be admitted to the bar in Missouri and/or Illinois or be able to acquire licensure as soon as possible.

Legal Billing Specialist

Rasmussen Dickey Moore seeks an experienced, full-time Legal Billing Specialist to join the accounting team at our Kansas City headquarters.

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of work experience as a Billing Specialist using legal billing software (Tabs software experience is preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
  • Robust interpersonal skills necessary to communicate in person and by phone with a diverse group of attorneys, staff, and vendors to provide information with courtesy and tact
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload and projects
  • Experience in an insurance defense law firm is a plus

The responsibilities of the position include:

  • Preparing, collating, and distributing pre-bills
  • Editing and finalizing monthly client billing for clients with complicated and diverse billing scenarios
  • Tracking attorney billable hours to ensure accurate fees are applied
  • Pulling and copying expense backup to accompany invoices
  • Processing revised invoices upon request of attorney
  • Making changes or corrections to time entries requested by the timekeeper
  • Providing billing information to attorneys and staff upon request
  • Processing timely appeals
  • Posting payments to proper invoices while accounting for processing fees, advances, and expense reimbursement
  • Special projects as needed
  • Other tasks as assigned by management

The salary range for this position is $45,000–$50,000 annually.


RDM seeks a Paralegal to join us at our Kansas City headquarters. The Paralegal will work under the supervision of attorneys during all phases of the civil litigation process. The successful candidate must be proficient in case investigation, document procurement and review, case organization, legal research, discovery, and trial preparation, processes, and procedures.

  • Associate degree, certificate in paralegal studies, or equivalent experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products, PDF, and OCR software
  • Ability to perform detailed and thorough investigations
  • Ability to utilize library and online resources
  • Ability to work independently and in team situations

The responsibilities of the position include:

  • Document review and procurement: obtain and analyze medical records, Social Security records, bankruptcy records, etc.
  • Prepare and serve deposition notices, etc.
  • Case organization
  • Research, on- and off-site
  • Organize and facilitate discovery
  • Trial preparation
  • Exhibit preparation
  • Preparing expert reliance materials
  • Calendar and track discovery, pleadings, motions, and hearings
  • Analyze document production
  • Work with attorney in preparation for depositions
  • Index, analyze, and summarize discovery documents
  • Prepare master chronology
  • Prepare medical chronology
  • Prepare case analysis
  • Other tasks as assigned

The annual salary for this position is between $50,000 and $65,000 based on experience.
